This is something I have planned for over a year, so I want to hear your opinion on this. I plan to add a section where players could design their own cards and submit them.

To create a card you would fill the necessary data via a formular (card name, keywords, card text) and upload image the same way you upload the avatar. The card data wouldn't need to be complete.

Before each update a player could then submit some limited ammount of cards he want to create. I would have a section where I could see al the suggested cards and process them.

Also balance changes suggestion could be done the similiar way. You would pick a card and write proposed changes, I would then see all changes for one specific card.

I think this would be better then writing card suggestions of forum. Also players would see other players card suggestion.

What do you think?

Yes, Yes, yes please.

Also, if possible, a way to store all the cards you have created and edit them, before you process them. Once you (Mojko) look over cards for a person, they get cleared, or maybe locked for editing. Something like card slots, you get maybe 10 slots for creating new cards, with a write in section for describing new keywords, functions. Once you (Mojko) look over something you can clear out the forms, or something.

Only you will be able to see the cards?

Is it possible to gather all the cards player submit into a section that works like current Decks function?
So we can see each others card as well? And being able to filter with keyword and rarity? Just an idea..
And maybe an extra function for being to support the card idea if we like it by having a "good card" vote casting system?
So let's say each player can pick a favorite card from each of the rarity before each update, or something similar.

There are many features that can be included in this section - that's why I wanted to discuss this.

I think each player should have something like card pool - list of all cards he created. He will have some "suggestion slots" for example 10. So before the update each player could suggest at most 10 cards. The suggested cards could also be seen by other players to compare them with their own.

The interface can be much similiar to deck section (filters...).

The most important thing to know is wether it is feasable to do it or not. If we would have this feature, would the players use it?
kakerlake on 16:14, 19. Sep, 2008
i would!
and i guess a bunch of other players would love that feature as well.
Perfection on 17:29, 19. Sep, 2008
yes i would use that

btw
why arent there updates more often?
DPsycho on 01:31, 20. Sep, 2008
"Why aren't there updates more often?"

Heh, I was wondering the opposite. How do you guys manage all of this, updating as often as you do, and keep it free to use? You should open a donation section so we can help keep the site running!
Perfection on 01:37, 20. Sep, 2008
well yea ok sorry lol
i just love updates :P

We do what we can, however until now both me an theultramage were students, thus we had more free time. From 1.9.2008 we are working full-time, which, unfortunately, leaves us with less time for MArcomage. We have to make a living, you know ;)

To remedy this situation MaskedHalfling offered his services and want to join our team - he could prove to be a needed help in time to this project. Also X-Factor is helping us greatly with the images.

If our team grows a little bigger we will be able to do more things on this project, despite our full-time jobs.

Very nice.
But if it's 10 suggestion's for each upgrade, it would be practical to know when the next upgrade is planned. If you look at the card suggestion topic, 10 is not very much and you'd have to use them wisely (for which other player's comment is useful). For how wisely, something like a roadmap / timetable / whatever would be interesting.
DPsycho on 15:06, 20. Sep, 2008
If a deadline were announced a week in advance each time, I would think that that would suffice.

I imagine there would be some who play with card ideas immediately every time they have free spots as well as others who only use it when such a deadline nears, so different people would want different methods and schedules.
Sundancer on 12:35, 21. Sep, 2008
I'd really like to have that feature :D Would use it a lot.

Great idea. But I think we all should also have a democratic vote on the cards a couple of days before the next update. Just to give the admins a hint what the players would like to see in the game :)
Perfection on 21:54, 21. Sep, 2008
The BEST thing would be:

A player post a card. then people vote on wether or not they want it added. if the card gets at least 80% over 10 votes+, it is going to be in the next update.

that would be cool
could do something similar for card balancing.... i think we will all agree with cards are hugely powered and some other hugely weak
DPsycho on 06:41, 22. Sep, 2008
Rather than simple voting, I feel people should be able to comment and explain why they do or do not believe it would be viable and what could be done to alter it as necessary.
Progressor on 12:29, 23. Sep, 2008
Voting is a rather questionable method to insert cards, I think not the best, objective method...
Some players might vote for a card just because they can (mis)use it badly.

I think reading some argumented (?) comments on the card can give better criteria's.

Implemented in https://netvor.sk/trac/arcomage/changeset/569
planegray on 19:26, 17. Jun, 2009
Am i able to disable this feature?
Mojko on 19:33, 17. Jun, 2009
How "disable"? You don't need to use it if you don't want to.
marsrover21 on 19:52, 17. Jun, 2009
Great section. One question: how do I get it to stop flashing?
