I feel like this card has been nerfed into uselessness. It affects only keyword cards... okay. Oh, and it also depends on the number of holy cards in my hand? And it only affects common cards? Yikes. Too many restrictions.

Being on the receiving end of that card with you right now, I disagree. I've had to consciously keep my hand such that it wouldn't benefit you to use it after that first time.

The worst case is that you have some common cards replaced by holy cards, which may be less useful but which also may be just as useful. It's not like it's going to fill your hand with searing flame or purified ashes or something - holy commons are, on the whole, pretty widely useful.

It creates havoc with keywords that require a certain number on hand to use the keyword effect with regularity. Unliving, Soldier, Beast, even to a lesser extent Illusion, Nature, Aqua, and Destruction can have plans torn to pieces by removing the commons from your hand. Don't even get me started on Titan being impossible with this as it is. It doesn't matter how useful the Holy cards may be. The loss of the common keyword cards, potentially many at once, can derail a strategy very effectively.

I agree that it's useful for clearing out keyword fodder against decks that require a high density of their keyword (undead, unliving, etc.). However, I'd say that's about all it's useful for. And clearing out the 1-4 common holy cards is pretty quick and painless (especially if your opponent gave you Purifying fire...).

I don't think this card is woefully underpowered, but I would like it to at least be able to affect uncommons (with the restriction that commons are targeted first).
DPsycho on 01:48, 12. Nov, 2010
What if it targets only one Uncommon if there are no valid common targets? I don't want a scenario where someone uses this twice in a row, the second time wiping out all the keyworded Uncommons because the only Commons are the Holy ones just placed into the hand.

Or should the number of Holy cards in the opponent's hand reduce the number of cards you can affect? That would also help to counter repeated use.

I hadn't thought of that. The card text is already quite long, so I don't know if it's viable to make the effect any more complicated. Maybe have it affect holy cards as well? That might not jive with the card's flavour though.
