Does anyone play this card? I think it's way too expensive to be worthwhile.
dindon on 22:01, 2. Nov, 2009
The only thing it was useful for was discard fodder before they changed the undead keyword. Now, yeah, it's pretty much useless. Compared to something like Orc Regiment, the cost to damage ratio is pretty bad.
jbryant3 on 18:17, 11. Nov, 2009
Suggestion for card:

20 gems and 20 recruits (the max for sacrifice, which should be returned... :P)

Attack: 5N.
Where N = # undead cards in game.
Replaces a random non-rare card in enemy's hand with an undead card.
Mojko on 18:25, 11. Nov, 2009
to jbryant3: Do you know that Undead had their side-effect changed? And if you want to suggest card, please use the concepts section.
jbryant3 on 18:28, 11. Nov, 2009
I know the undead side effect changed. I'm just protesting.

This card is already in the deck. I'm just suggesting tweaks. That should be in the concepts? I thought that was for new cards...
Mojko on 21:22, 11. Nov, 2009
I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to suggest a new card. In the case of balance changes of existing cards, you can discuss it here.
jbryant3 on 18:35, 13. Nov, 2009
Still not worth playing. It's just too expensive for what it does. Undead cards are already fairly expensive for their benefits so building the necessary resources for an undead host is too prohibitive. Why not change it to something more like Phoenix? I understand Phoenix is a rare and this is an uncommon, but it's too expensive to play as is.
dindon on 02:22, 16. Nov, 2009
I think it's balanced now. At full power, it does just a little bit more damage than orc regiment for the same amount of resources. However, it's split between two kinds of resources - accumulating 30 recruits and 30 gems is a lot faster than getting 60 of either, generally. Also, it has good synergy with the undead keyword and with Eternal guardian, which gives it a leg-up over regiment.
NG_Beholder on 06:07, 13. Sep, 2010
It's not balanced. It's overpowered. Extremely overpowered, I'd like to say.
If you don't play a deck built on resource drain/damage OR tower rush - it will oneshot you.
This card has damage potential which at par with rare Golden Dragon, rare Chimera, better than rare Ice Revenant and rare Rainbow Dragon (only by damage, of course). In fact, there is 5 cards which can inflict more damage: Phoenix, Nature Dragon, Spectral Dragon, Dragon Squadron and Leviathan.
Let's see. Phoenix needs a massive preparations before it can inflict 90-100 damage. Nature Dragon - same, but it's kinda hard to do more than 70-80 damage with it. Spectral Dragon, Dragon Squadron and Leviathan are much more expensive.
Maybe we could find something in uncommon section? Only Orc Regiment which is a bit harder to play because of 60 recruits cost. Royal Dragoons? It's not even funny, there is much more Undead cards than Charge and Dragoons have no synergy with other cards like Eternal Guardian.
I played with my Undead deck against Holy/Soldier deck once. I got 3 Undead Hosts after my first turn. One of that survived all holy discards and has been played. Oneshot.
I think that it must have attack 30 + 6N and cost 26/26. That will be fair.
Lord Ornlu on 12:19, 13. Sep, 2010
It's indeed overpowered, but if you are playing against Holy then you are usually screwed. Furthermore, because it requires you to have Undead cards on hand, which are quite expensive, usually you just have to discard cards in order to gather the resources, and the enemy will anticipate your move. However, you are right, it needs some balancing. 30+6N is still a potential 78 damage though. I suggest we keep the damage as it is but lower the resources it requires to be played to 25/25 and to cap its damage Templar Knight style (can not lower enemy tower below 20 for example)
jbryant3 on 12:44, 13. Sep, 2010
I agree that it's strong, but I'm not sure it's overpowered. I'll do NG's comparison here:
Golden Dragon - First of all, I'm not sure that this card is strong enough for a rare... That being said, Undead host, in order to be good, needs lots of Undead cards in your hand. Golden dragon, however, can be played whenever you have 35G/35R. Host is only useful in Undead decks and can be a pain to draw (because you don't want to discard your hand of Undead cards in case you draw it).

Chimera - This card is really freaking good. It's base damage is 60, add Frenzy it's 80, and add flipping the Beast counter, and it's 90. It's easily obtained using Beast farm, and it does straight tower damage. Sure it's expensive, but to get the same return on Undead host, you would have to have 5 Undead cards in hand and 10 more recruits.

Ice Revenant - This "rare" is still god-awful. I don't think it should be compared to anything.

Rainbow Dragon (only by damage, of course) - Very strong card. It has the potential for massive damage and paying for itself. What other card does that?! It's also a Legend that's easily fetched (Summon master and Mysterious egg). It costs less than Undead host, but it's damage is more variable.

Phoenix - Great finisher, punisher, and all-around rare. It takes 3 cards to easily out-damage Undead host: 2 Phoenix feathers and 1 Wildfire (all of with are COMMONS!). Did I also mention that it partially pays for itself AND comes back into your hand when it's done dealing damage? Sure, it's a rare, but c'mon...

Nature Dragon - Great card for Nature. Deals an obscene amount of damage and is easily fetched. Further, it doesn't cost gems. Better than UH? I think so...

Spectral Dragon - Not a good rare. Still too expensive.

Dragon Squadron - Basically Orc regiment's older brother. Too hard to fetch to be useful.

Leviathan - Very good card because it goes straight for the tower. Your enemy might have 150 wall, but if his tower isn't above 8-, he's screwed. It's a rare and I think balanced. UH has to go through wall first and can't match that damage, but it also costs less. I think a good trade off.
Lord Ornlu on 21:41, 13. Sep, 2010
you are comparing rares with an uncommon though. You can see that Undead Host is clearly equal to them and sometimes superior.
jbryant3 on 21:59, 13. Sep, 2010
I was doing my spin on NG's evaluation.

You were lucky to draw 3 uncommons - Undead Host, Soul Sacrifice and Crypt, also you were able to draw a high cost card with crypt. I would propose to raise the cost to 35/35, though.
jbryant3 on 12:28, 16. Sep, 2010
I don't disagree that I was lucky (just as someone drew 2 Overpowers and 2 frenzies in the first 4 turns before Overpower was nerfed). 35/35 sounds good to me.
Lord Ornlu on 22:36, 16. Sep, 2010
40/40 would be even better

I think with the current token effect for Holy and cards like Intrigue, Mediator (especially with its recent buff), Moon priestess, and Samauri, 35/35 would be fine. This card is only useful in 1 type of deck: Undead.
dimitris on 07:20, 17. Sep, 2010
It's not really overpowered. Royal Dragoons is more powerful and with a slightly lower cost. It's just that Undead Host is more easily playable because there are a lot of stock giving Undead cards...
Progressor on 16:48, 17. Sep, 2010
It used to be 40/40, but it was considered too expensive.
I think the old price was to high, but the change too drastic. 35-ish would do it.
