I start this thread because of what happened with the Legend/Frenzy discussion in the card concept 'Mystic Groove'. I have never been a Mod before. I could not right away figure out how exactly I should respond.

About my reaction there:
1. I was not threatening to delete those posts, I was merely saying that I didn't really know how to deal with it.
2. My response was not on the entire Frenzy/Legend discussion but about Noaks question directly addressed to Lord Ornlu. (2 posts before mine) These type of messages might be better to send through a PM then a forum since it's to one specific user, and did not have anything to do with the previous discussion. (One could see it as of topic within of topic.)

Im still in doubt for those two posts, thinking it might be a wiser policy in this specific case to send the text of these posts to the corresponding users, but deleting them on the forum to keep the thread clean from this personal stuff.

So, my idea for this thread is to collect and save the knowledge as to 'how things should be dealt with' as mod (for the future generation :-P).
(I can't do all things right the first time, just some ;-))

As a new moderator, my thoughts concerning my role are as follows. This is what can be expected of me.

I'll probably never delete someone else's post. That is, I hope I never have to. Things can become heated and argumentative, but as long as people are trying to present facts or opinions and not degrading to spiteful insults or utter nonsense, I'll likely only give reminders to stay on topic or move things to a new thread if a worthwhile conversation has emerged. In fact, I encourage conversations covering or breaking into multiple topics. The more we converse openly, the better we can understand one another and improve our community as well as, of course, the game we've all come to love.

Things I would not tolerate are hateful insults, racism, extreme vulgarity, threats of actual harm, and any other behavior that could be clearly classified as trying to provoke a fight. Any such posts would disappear under my watch. With the intelligent and understanding people we have on this site, I expect that this will never be an issue.

If anyone deems a post to be offensive in any way, feel free to message me and I'll give it a second look. With visitors from several countries, we might not always be mindful of what could (intentionally or otherwise) be upsetting to someone.

I will never make a change to anyone else's post or thread without making such alterations clear. Branched topics will have notes appended to them and any altered text will include a note explaining what I did and why.

To the delete list I would add "spam".
That is one important issue that made some forums "disappear".
Due to the nature of this forums I hope that spam will not be an issue here (it's to small and focus to have the spam companies to spend resources, but..).

Continue the good work

Point taken. I would feel no remorse in deleting spam and leaving not a trace, though I might keep personal record of it.
