I also had the halo idea, so I'm for it ;).

I suggest to add "looking for hidden games" & "looking for friendly games" status

Interesting idea, but how should it handle combinations of such modes. For example Quick friendly game with hidden cards?
DPsycho on 14:52, 12. Nov, 2009
I suppose that if more than one icon could be shown, having a battle icon next to a heart icon next to an eye with an X over it could do the trick. Rather than having each combination have its own choice, allowing the player to check-mark each independently would probably be the least-cluttered UI solution.

I might have time today to make some icons like that if you'd like. Or would you prefer for all of the information to be contained in a single icon?

I think it is better to have separate icons for each status. It would be very nice if you could sumbit some icons ;)

Let me know what you think. I can make changes to them if desired.

I think they are all nice, but was the heart intended for friendly game? I think a handshake symbol would be more fitting.

Please no more color-coding! As a colorblind (not that bad, but some of the color-choices aren't playing on my strong side) person, I'd much rather see icons used :P

Icons for player-status in all honor, but I just now tried "Looking for quick game", to find 8 offline players.

Could it rather not be possible to have a "Lounge/Lobby" for players looking for a quick game, where you sign up for it, and if you don't do anything on the site (read forums, play other players etc), you're automatically removed? I don't know if this works with the way the site is set up, but I definitely prefer the idea.

That solution comes from an idea for WC3 I had when looking for public DotA's, only to try and join a game started 20 hours ago. If the host isn't starting the game within 15 minutes, I don't want to see it. Same here.

If you're afk for 20 minutes, but still want a quick game? Just sign up again. This requires somewhat of a constant vigilance if you have noone else to play and don't want to look at forums etc, but hey, you're the one asking for a quick match!

to Myschly: what color coding you have in mind? Player status and the new flags for game modes use small icon pictures. However, I think we should be able to implement a separate layout for color blind persons. You would just go to settings and switched it on. I will need your help for that, though. Since, I'm not colorblind, I will have problems to find problematic layout for color blind persons. Please send me a list of all layout problems related to color blindness.

Try using both filters "Looking for quick game" and "online players" to find online opponents who want to play a quick game.

The color coding was a response to the earlier comments, just a general "let's not base too much on color"-feeling :P

Well I have a kind of unique color-blindness, it's not the regular colors I have difficulty with, and not in the regular sense, but mostly no problem really. Although I must admit that the difference between common and rare is indistinguishable to me, unless I've got them both to look at and compare.

I don't feel the need to have a special setting, not having any problems as it is now, it's just like I said, a general wish to not base future settings too heavily on colors. However like green red blue is no problems whatsoever. It's more shades that are "related" to eachother. Certain shades of yellow and green sort of blend together for me. Until we get someone who's really colorblind, the current system works just fine :)
