I noticed multiple request to hide opponent's cards. From the implementation side, this isn't a problem. When challenging, a player would not only choose his deck, but also if the game will show or won't show opponent's cards. When accepting such challenge the other player would be informed about this in the challenge message.

Playing with such an option could be interesting, but I would also like to hear some opinions on this. So, what do you think? Is this worth implementation?

Should the newcard flags be hidden as well?

This is a great idea! Really!!! And I think there should be a new card flag, because there are some card where you have to now, if the card is new, or not!
Sundancer on 21:55, 10. Nov, 2009
I think the idea itself is great but I don't think it fits to this game.
There are lot's of cards that need to know what the opponent has got on his hand and in which position or how many of it, like witcher or many of the cards from the last update, like doppelganger. I'd personally have to have 2 of each of my decks, one where I know the opponents cards and one where I don't know his cards.

Still like to see it ^^ I'm kinda curious.

I think this could be fun (and funny), but probably not something with lasting appeal. Not knowing your opponents cards really just removes a lot of strategy from the game. It could be a fun gimmick to play around with for a little while though.

If this were implemented, I'd accept challenges for "blind" games, but not before I created or modified a deck for it specifically. Anything where you select a card from opponent's hand (Sphinx), something is discarded only if it exists (Corrosion cloud, Dragon slayer) or the effect is based on a number of something in both hands (Retribution, Divine intervention) would be effectively useless and undesirable. These are just examples that come to mind, far from a comprehensive list.

And New card flags should definitely be visible, both because certain cards rely on that knowledge and because, were this a game being played face-to-face at a table, you'd see what card was played. Of course, while the above-mentioned cards would be less useful, others like Trigger trap would be even more powerful.

I wonder whether the decks used for such a game mode would end up looking very similar with people relying on (and avoiding) the same manner of cards.

I suggest revealing the cards on hand once the match is over.
Fithz Hood on 13:10, 12. Nov, 2009
is it possible to have cards that show one or more hidden card in enemy hand?
or a card like: stock +4, a random card in your hand will be shown (just an example)?
Myschly on 15:30, 12. Nov, 2009
Playing my first game now, it makes for interesting gameplay, but having an Intrigue on hand has never felt this useless XD
Mojko on 17:29, 12. Nov, 2009
Currently, cards that reveal opponent's hand are not supported, but I think it is possible to implement it.
DPsycho on 18:17, 12. Nov, 2009
If support for revealing cards is added (and I support the idea), there should be a flag like the "New" tag that lets the player see which of his cards are visible to the opponent.
Mojko on 18:26, 12. Nov, 2009
Is this really necessary? You can see what card your opponent played and if it reveals your hand, it will be written on the card.
Sundancer on 18:53, 12. Nov, 2009
not if it reveals cards randomly
Mojko on 18:56, 12. Nov, 2009
True, but is this a feature we really want? I think if a card reveals some information for the opponent, then he is the only one, who should know about it. He is the one who played the card (he paid the card cost).
Sundancer on 18:58, 12. Nov, 2009
I agree the advantage should go to the opponent only
DPsycho on 19:23, 12. Nov, 2009
I suppose that it depends on how long the cards remain revealed. I assumed that if a card revealed the entire hand, each of those eight cards would remain revealed until played or discarded. If your hand is made visible, and then you play the cards in the first, third, and eighth positions, my thoughts were that the opponent would still see 2 4 5 6 7 revealed and 1 3 8 (the cards drawn after the reveal) would be blind. The strategic player would be keeping track of what the opponent does and does not know whether the UI is showing it or not.
Mojko on 20:15, 12. Nov, 2009
Well, I think it supposed to reveal the cards only for one turn. Actually , it would work like the newcard flag mechanism. It will reset at the start of each round. From the implementation side, both ways can be done.
planegray on 20:52, 12. Nov, 2009
After completion of a hidden game the opponents hand is revealed.
Mojko on 21:01, 12. Nov, 2009
Indeed.
dindon on 23:45, 12. Nov, 2009
Being able to see your opponent's tokens gives away a lot. I mean, before he plays his first card, you can usually already tell what kind of deck he has. I think it would be nice if that were hidden too, just to add a little more mystery.
DPsycho on 00:59, 13. Nov, 2009
The system-generated Battle Reports should include mention of whether a game was played blindly.
