I miss how player names would be in green instead of red if they're online. I'm talking about in the Games tab and on the actual in-game screen, I know this is still available if I go the the Players tab but I don't like having to constantly check the player list to see if I'm playing a person who is online or off.

I believe if someone is online, their name shows in italics in the games tab. I agree that the old way was better though.
DPsycho on 18:38, 27. Sep, 2009
I also agree. The italics don't stand out at all, so you can't tell at a glance how many opponents are online.

This issue has already been discussed in Skins prototype discussion, so I'm going to quote myself:

"The green border worked well before". Yes but we already have a color-coded information on that button (if you can play your turn in corresponding game). Having two color coded informations on one element plus supporting multiple skins is quite impossible. That's why I was forced to change it to italics.

I'm open to any ideas how to show that opponent is online, but it should not be via colors. Would bold text be better then the italics for example?

I have alredy gotten used to italics, but its not the best solution in my opinion. I would suggest to put last action time behind every players name in both game and player tabs - like (4 mins), (12 hours), (3 days). That would be really nice addition if tehnically possible
Mojko on 10:37, 28. Sep, 2009
I was thinking of expanding the games list section for more detailed information about every game. So instead of just game buttons, it would contain all sorts of information in addition to information already present (if your turn is and if opponent is online). For example round number, date and time of game creation, last game action, last opponent action...

This way we wouldn't be forced to store all information in the game button (which is the current problem).

Another question are the dates and times. Would you like to have, for example, last opponent action in the format when did it happen or how much time has passed since?

What kind of additional information would you like to have for each game in the game list? Or both perhaps?

(Id say format "When", I think it's easier to calculate "How long" from there then vice versa)
.
"I'm talking about in the Games tab and on the actual in-game screen"
.
About the in-game screen, the notification is moved to the opponents name just above it's Tower / Wall score. (When he/she is there, it's green.)
Mojko on 16:01, 28. Sep, 2009
Progressor is right. The online indication of the opponent was moved to opponent's name above the tower and wall info. But I'm pretty sure this was mentioned in the updates thread a while ago.
DPsycho on 17:39, 28. Sep, 2009
If times are added to the "Games" tab, having the times green when the opponent is online could work as an alternative to the current italicization. Alternately, the times can be colorized to indicate that it is your turn and the name buttons can return to indicating online status via text color.

How about this?

_I would prefer there to be options to remove the date-information, and I can't tell where in that picture it gives information on whose turn it is. Perhaps an icon right beside the name to show both Game Status and whether or not it is your turn. Might even just use two extra colored letters. It would also be nice if you used divisions or alternating background shading to making sure when a person looks from left to right they match up the correct name with the correct information.
_I conclude however, that we aught to just use something other than italics for whether the person is online or not. Such as a colored letter right beside the button.
Xenogeist on 22:16, 1. Oct, 2009
I like it. It doesn't seem necessary to have the game state column though, I think the info column works instead. I also think it would be nice if the button to enter the game was a little bigger.
Mojko on 07:57, 2. Oct, 2009
If opponent is online is marked with lime/green color on his name. If it is your turn is marked on the game button (lime/green color).

I can add the same line highlighting as is used in players list.

Game state is probably not necessary, but the dates can be interesting for some players. I can make an option in the settings, something like "extra details in the game list", which will show all this information in the games list. If turned off, it will show only minimal information (opponent name, info and game button).

I like it :)

This is what I implemented in https://netvor.sk/trac/arcomage/changeset/667

I added a setting to show/hide games details in games list section. I also made some layout adjustments.

This is how it looks like, when active:
http://delo.dcs.fmph.uniba.sk/~fendek/games_details_on.png

and inactive:
http://delo.dcs.fmph.uniba.sk/~fendek/games_details_off.png

The default is inactive.
