Can someone explain to me how Magical Tower EXACTLY works? i just started out but i believe this is what just happened:

The card does NOT give the +10 gems as it states furthermore in another match having the same card as my opponent (basic wall) has decreased my gems by -10 instead while still costing bricks

Can you please provide the link to the game replay where it happened?

I played wayyyy too much games to find that particular one now however in my recent game tower imo acts weird yet again

As you can see at Round 3 i played Magical Tower while me and AI both had the Battering Ram which should mean that it consumes 15 Gems instead of 15 Bricks and gives +10 gems? now i didint have the Gems to place it but it still did consuming 15 Bricks however where are the bonus 10 gems then ?

matching card = card in same position (in opponent's hand). Positions are counted from 1 to 8, from left to right.

Example of how magical tower works:
You play magical tower from position 5. If your opponent has a card on position 5, that costs gems, then magical tower will give you 10 gems.

There is no situation where playing this card should cause you to lose gems, none whatsoever. If you can find an example of that happening in the replays, it's worth examination.

Playing the card will always cost 15 bricks. There is no situation where it will not cost 15 bricks or where it will cost any other resource. (I can see why you read it that way, but there's no comma or "then" in that sentence.)

As others have already explained, matching card is the card directly across the table from the one you are playing. It doesn't look at the rest of the hand. The card can be anything. It's not looking to see if it's the same card you have. It's only looking to see if it has gems as part of the cost.

hm a simple "that" before "costs" would fix the confusion problem does that card have to be costing just Gems or it can have other cost components as well ?

as for the -10 gems the AI played a card that should have removed 10 bricks from me if i remember correctly but removed 10 gems instead as i said i have played quite a lot of games recently and they were all vs AI with the same deck so i still dont feel like finding that particular one considering that im absolutely green and might be misremembering or confusing things neither should you

1. Matching card must be gem-only or mixed-cost with gem component.
2. I think I know what was it. AI triggered Destruction keyword which destroys 10 of your highest resource. So you lost some bricks and some gems as well.

Adding "that" before "costs" wouldn't result in a sensible sentence. Perhaps "If the matching" instead of "If matching" but there are numerous cards that look to the matching card to trigger effects, and they're all worded similarly. We'd have to alter them too for consistency, and in general, making card text longer is detrimental.

And yes, gems-only or mixed-cost including gems. Cards that reduce the player's gems as an after-effect but not as part of the cost (Angry mob or Mummy for example) do NOT count.
