What does the 'new' keyword mean in this case?

"New" is a flag the game shows next to a card that is newly-drawn or newly-refreshed, usually because the card previously in its position was either played or discarded, though occasionally because cards were traded between players or shuffled. In a Hidden game, it's a way of seeing which position's card the opponent played.
