From the official FAQ section:
Q10: I played a card ("Master of past" for example) that reverses or undos some effect of opponents last played card and it didn't work like it should have.
A: You probably played such card after "Swift"/"Quick" card(s). So when you played it, the system no longer had the information what effect was caused by opponent's last turn. There is an easy rule for these cards - if you want them to work fine, don't play them after any "Swift"/"Quick" cards.
