It seems random weather or not the bonus gain procs, and I'm often getting strange amounts of gain accrued. How is this calculated? Is it feasible for a high-level player to be able to know exactly how much gain each of his plays will accrue? How can I achieve that?

Thanks

If you are talking about how tokens work you should read this.
Actually is not simple to use this system, the preview button always help but it's usable only in non-hidden games. Maybe the preview button should be reworked to show tokens gain also in hidden mode.
And it's not a bad idea to rework the token system to make it simpler.

Thank you for your reply. I can't think of a reason why the gain/token preview shouldn't be available in hidden games. Is gain/tokens ever contingent on what is in your opponent's hand?

All information is appreciated.

It's basically because the preview isn't limited to token gain. The preview, ideally, shows all numbers changed by playing a card. It could become more confusing if it always shows token changes but sometimes not damage or stock changes.

I'm sure you understand this already, but I'll put it here for overall clarity and for new players who may not understand the reasoning. Since there are many cards that rely on something in the opponent's hand, it was once possible to use the preview function to "snoop" at the opponent's cards. Imagine using Sphinx with preview to see which hidden cards are zero-cost and which are expensive, then selecting the one that gives you the most stock. This possibility had to be eliminated, so preview was made unavailable in Hidden mode.

It would be nice if the keyword mouseover text could give this information. Presently, it tells you the values for playing the card and the bonus gain for additional cards. Could the mouseover text be coded to include a calculation of the gains for playing the card at that moment? I understand this would be adding a dynamic element to what is currently unchanging text so it could be difficult to implement, but if it isn't, it would put the information right in the place where someone would have to look to otherwise do the calculation manually.

Better yet, could this be added to the token counters at the bottom of the playfield? Like, mouse over the word "Alliance" to see "+20" when there are two in hand?

I like this idea. I think it should be fairly implementable :)

And how it will deal with farsight cards? in hidden mode the token preview could give a little (very little) information on opponent hand (you could tell if opposite card is costs gem or not)

Far sight wouldn't make a difference. If you can't see the card, you're not getting any tokens -- you're revealing it.

It would get tricky when there's more than one value that a matching gem card could increase since it would then be chosen at random. I think the Far sight gain just shouldn't apply to such a calculation in any case. Remember, it's not a preview, it's just a sum taking basic gain into account.

Indeed :)

Real token gain calculation mechanic implemented in r1575. So when you hover over a token keyword (or its insignia) on a card in your hand, the tooltip will display real token gain value (token gain when you play the card).

Looks nice, if a little wordy. Could we add a Bold tag to the number since this will be the one detail most looked for on mouseover from this point on? Probably not necessary as long as it always ends up in the exact upper-right corner of the text.
