I think it would be helpful to automatically go to the last unread posting of a thread. Clicking (Last) every time is annoying.

I guess so too, however, in this case it's best to not change the interface and just mimic what other forum software does. And other forum software also takes you to the first post - unless you use some alternate threading model where post order is reversed or such.

When I need to go to the last post from the forum overview, I click the clickable date hyperlink on the right side. I think that's what you're looking for.

The main issue here I think is that it's not possible to visually distinguish a hyperlink from normal text. We ought to correct that somehow.

Ah, good to know and I totally agree.

Actually, if you hover over the thread with mouse, all present hyperlinks are underlined. But without that, they appear as normal text.
