Why did you nerf this? It was a good early-game-only minor gems+ card. Unlike Dragonling it's not scaling and almost useless in late game (Restoration is very situational and not really powerful keyword). Now it's also twice less effective in early game than before, and that makes its utility very debatable.
Is 2 guaranteed gems too much and game-breaking? Then nerf Renewal and Hidden Treasure.

I'm sad to see it nerfed as well, but I don't think it was a bad decision. It was so powerful, I used it in quite a lot of my decks, including ones not focused on gems. The primary effect had a very high gem gain and wasn't hard to activate, while the secondary effect still gave you a profit if you had to resort to it. Now, it's still very powerful, but it has to be used a bit more thoughtfully.

If you compare the current form to another focused resource-builder like Colonialism, I think you'll find that it's still quite strong.

I was too powerful compared to other commons (compare gems gains). Currently, I think it's still superior to some other commons.

So nerf primary effect or/and add some cost - 2 bricks, for example.

So Magic Sanctuary has been changed. The text is a little confusing.

I played the card in the first turn, having 5 gems, the opponent having 6 gems. Both players got +8 gems. Might want to look into this.

it seems that first you gain 6 gems and your opponent 2; then also the second "if" of the condition was fullfilled and your opponent have other 6 gems, and you other 2.
Using "else" instead of a second "if" should fix the situation, but I'm not sure "else" is usable in the code.

There are 3 possible outcomes if this card is played:

1 - if you have less gems than your opponent, you get 6 gems, your opponent gets 2 gems

2 - if you have more gems than your opponent, you get 2 gems, your opponent gets 6 gems

3 - if you have the same amount of gems, both players get 8 gems

It's acting like that: first round, you have 6 gems, enemy has 5. He played a card that doesn't cost gems and has 8 gems. If you'll play Magic Sanctuary after that, you'll get 8 gems as well as enemy. I believe it happens every time when |gems - enemy gems| < 4.
I'll give a replay number when game will be finished.

Oh, I get it now. There is a small bug with this card. The problem is that the effect may change the condition. I'll fix it tomorrow. Thanks for reporting.

Fixed in r1288. Changes will be applied soon.
