This is a relatively old idea I found in my notes - for each deck the player will be able to choose a starting castle. This will change the graphics of the tower and wall - each castle will look differently. Also, each castle will provide a different adjustment to starting game attributes.

For example:

Barbarian stronghold:
- magic: -1
- recruits: +10

This example is just for illustration only. We would need to create multiple starting castles and balance them properly.

Any suggestions?

Alternatively the player choice of token counters could provide some adjustments to starting attributes as well.

For aqua:

Atlantis Citadel:
Magic: +1
Dungeon: +1
Tower: -5
Wall: -10

I recall discussion of cosmetic things like unique tower and wall graphics being experience rewards or things "purchased" with a currency earned through playing matches. I still think such an addition (without things actually affecting game play) would be fun.

As for attaching such a thing to starting attributes, I can't even begin to think about what it would be like to try to balance everything while taking these into account as well. My guess would be that the amount of necessary consideration would be multiplied by the number of different options.

If you did want to pursue this, however, I would ask that it be an optional game mode just as Hidden games are now.

DPsycho is correct about the balance hell that will be produced.

You're probably right ;-) let's not overcomplicate things.
