Modified Cards

Wow. A lot of keywords removed from cards that have been in the game for years. I don't know if I'll ever get used to Fallen Knight no longer being a Soldier. It was fun playing him to activate both keywords.

Also, Restoration added to cards I use in some of my decks already. Might have to take a look and see if adding some additional Restoration cards would be feasible.

"Angel of destruction added Destruction keyword" This made me laugh, just the way it's stated. =D

Also, it occurs to me to marvel at how odd it is to have an update that didn't alter Ninja. Weird.

This upgrade totally ruined my current barbarian deck (zealot, fanatic) but there may be other combinations available now... Also I'll have to rethink about corrosion in my illusion decks.

On the other hand, there are some really interesting changes in rare cards, namely Tornado (I wonder if nature becomes stronger now, with this card...), Magic maelstorm, Implosion, Magic barrier etc.

As of Fallen knight it's a relief that this card is stripped from its soldier keyword. There will be no more "oh no!" when playing Stables and getting this card! :-)

The most immediately irritating thing to me was changing corrosion from illusion to nature. There are so many good nature commons, and so few good illusion commons... whyyyyy?

I don't know how I feel about adding restoration to more commons. It's kind of a buff to the keyword, and a nerf to School of Restoration, which has always been my signature card. Restoration is so bloated with commons now, that it's a lot less worth it. On the other hand, cards that summon Destruction cards just got a lot better.

Happy about removing the weak Holy/Barbarian synergy and unifying it with Holy/Soldier.

Why doesn't this update have a news post on the front page? Presently, you have to either follow the forum or click through to Modified Cards to see that changes were made on this date.

Maybe the ultramage does the updates and mojko writes the webpage, and I didn't see mojko in the last hours, let's wait him.
or simply they have forgot it.

It was more of a rhetorical question, really.
Fithz Hood on 22:49, 23. Sep, 2010
eh eh, right, sorry.
I'm playing against a nature deck now, I'm not sure it was really nerfed.
too bad that corrosion it's no more illusion (why not natue & illusion?) anyway I'm glad that there are more rare illusion cards.
Giving destuction and illusion to killer cards as implosion is almost useless but makes school of destuction and school of illusion really good cards.

Fanatic and Zealot should return back to Barbarian in my oppinion. Soldier is already a very strong keyword with pretty good aggressive and cheap cards. Also it's almost every time combined with Holy and there is already the card Guardian Angel that deals damage based on # of Holy and Soldier cards on hand.

On the other hand Barbarian is an average keyword (damages wall, but almost every time I manage to bring down the wall already by myself without using the keyword before I manage to fill up the counter), with moderately good aggressive cards that are either cheap but innefficient or expensive and really good. Fanatic and Zealot where the combination that made the Barbarian keyword so good. Now, in my opinion, Barbarian is way underpowered in relation to Soldier.

Furthermore, as I mentioned Soldier and Holy are always combined and a lot of cards have both keywords. Now Zealot will be way too strong (potential damage = 10 +3*8*2 = 10 + 48 = 58 damage for 11G 15R. This damage is now more likely to reach the maximum damage as there are 6 cards that have both Holy and Soldier keywords)

That's what I've been saying for a while now even before Barbars got this nerf...

News post about this update should be added shortly. I know some keywords are left undermanned after this balance change (Barbarian for example), but I plan to add new cards in the next update, which should improve the situation.
Lord Ornlu on 12:28, 24. Sep, 2010
I suggest Barbarian keyword to deal damage on tower instead of wall. Minor damage (i.e. 2, 3 and 5 depending on rarity of card that filled the tokens)
Mojko on 15:31, 24. Sep, 2010
How about this: when there is no wall for Barbarian keyword to destroy, apply stock reduction. I think this works better with the "Pillage" theme.
Lord Ornlu on 15:54, 24. Sep, 2010
true, but then it will almost every time do the same job as Brigand, only this time it will deal more damage. Maybe we could try it though. It would be interesting to see a cooperation of Brigand and Barbarian.
Mojko on 16:01, 24. Sep, 2010
Stock reduction is not stock stealing. So I think it's worth consideration.
jbryant3 on 17:03, 24. Sep, 2010
I love the pillage suggestion!
dimitris on 17:39, 24. Sep, 2010
Interesting thought!
It would make great combination with Aqua :-)
Mojko on 18:35, 24. Sep, 2010
First, you need to teach Barbarians how to swim :P
DPsycho on 18:42, 24. Sep, 2010
At least they're mostly wearing leather. Imagine trying to teach units wearing plate or chainmail to float.

or else: when there is no wall discard from enemy hand a wall + card of the same or lower rarity of played card. or, instead of discard, replace it with some weak card like purified ashes.
