On this site there are a few hot keys you can use:
ALT+s - send chat message
ALT+a - set focus to chat window
ALT+w - refresh button
ALT+q - logout

Out of general interest:
Do you use them?

My answer:
Nope.
In this game I'm using the mouse all the time and it would probably do more bad then good to me if I'd start dividing my attention between Mouse & Keys.

Nope, never.
FilipeSilva on 00:24, 2. Jun, 2010
never

I tried to use them but it seems they 're not working (Firefox 3.6). That's ok I can live without them though the 'refresh' shortcut might be quite useful.

perhaps it would be good to also delete the logout shortcut of pressing enter? if it's not a shortcut, then perhaps make the chat window a different entity from the rest of the interface, but still kept there visually

Enter is not a shortcut. The only shortcuts this site offers are the ones I mentioned.

When I added hotkeys, the main idea was to support a mouse-less (keyboard only) system of game control. I wanted to add a shortcut for every button (even play card - this would be accessed by number 1 - 8). Hotkeys for webpages are standardized by W3C, but even so, each browser has different implementation. Most browsers have their own hotkeys which override hotkeys defined by webpage. Some browsers provide an alternative way to access hotkeys of a webpage, so this partially solves the conflict. Under these circumstances I am unable to implement hotkeys that would work for any browser the same way. Until this situation is solved by browser developers, I am unable to make any progress.

But as Progressor said, it's questionable if someone would even use such a feature even if it would be implementable, since using mouse is more comfortable.

Wow, let me say that you've been at this a long time. I don't use the shortcuts either, but the thought of not having a mouse makes me glad they're there.

So the pressing ENTER key logout is unsolvable right now?
Mojko on 06:48, 5. Jun, 2010
The ENTER problem is not related to the hotkeys. When you hit ENTER the action that follows depends on what elements of the webpage has focus on it. By default Logout buttons has the focus, because it's the first button by the order in which the webpage is generated. Without Javascipt I am only able to alter the order of the elements when using TAB to shift focus, this does not allow me to change the first default element. I was unable to find a good solution with Javascript thus far. I think the focus of the element should be the current section button.

It might help making the chat a separate form.
