I had an idea for a Terracotta Soldier+Unliving card a while back and never submitted it. Nothing like this one, though.

A nice idea but I would suggest placing the Unliving cards in random positions and also raise the cost a bit. If you see this card in a span of 3-4 turns, you render your opponent incapable of mounting powerful assault against your tower (Soldier cards), and in the same time you gain +wall, +tower cards, which can easily give you victory in a matter of a few rounds. Especially if the uncommon card Rock Elemental (max. +30 tower at 20 bricks) comes along.

This is a really cute idea, but way too specific for me to ever consider taking. Really, what percentage of the time are you playing against a soldier deck? 10% would be a very generous estimate - and who wants to take a rare that's useless 90% of the time?

You might consider changing "soldier" to "soldier, barbarian, or brigand", like Sheath Your Swords. I think it still fits in nicely with the theme. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I would take it with that change, but it would be a definite improvement. Another possibility might be to just target all of your opponent's cards that have a recruits cost (I like that idea even better, actually).

Yeah I'm all for upping the price, gonna do that now.
I do have to (reluctantly) agree with it being quite specific, and I like the idea of extending its use to a few extra keywords. Not too sure about the recruits-cost-cards, though.

EDIT: Maybe it should have a mode thing for 1: Soldiers, 2: Barbarians or 3: Brigands. If you get all three it might not be entirely balanced.

You think? Sheath your Swords replaces all Soldier, Barbarian, and Brigands cards with weak commons. This card just replaces them with random other cards in the opponent's deck (which might be better than what they had to begin with). And Sheath your Swords is zero-cost. And uncommon. The only advantage this card would have is that it gives you matching unliving cards which, when you think of how many crummy ones there are (at least, if you're doing a building deck, you're not going to be too happy to get Earth Eater or Iron Golem), isn't actually that great.

Like I said, love the idea, but I can't help but see it as really underpowered for a rare.

Hm, perhaps you're right. It still needs work, definitely.
