why would i play such a high cost rare card that demotes my tower by 20?

The potential damage is equal to 160 (golden dragon costs 35/35 and deals 80), which can easylie be achived by having a hand full off undead or bruning cards, which is not that hard in a undead or burning deck. But maybe of the implemented Holy/alliance Counter, i have to reduce the cost.

It seems like its main use would be as a finisher. I don't think it's underpowered at all for its current cost (maybe it was already changed?), and I like the idea. It plays nicely off of the opposition between the good/constructive and evil/destructive keywords.

I know it's a good opposition, and it's a good finisher but overall it's easy to play it once it comes, but can only be used against Holy decks. Also in Undead decks I could just play Undead Host for the same resources (and it has more possibility to come in hand as it's an uncommon) and I would be able to deal 104 max. damage

The point is that holy and alliance Cards counters this Card since they reduce the Damage dealt by this Card. So its better to use this Card against decks, which are not alliance or Holy.
And yes, i already changed the Costs of the Card when you wrote your post, dindon. (reduced Gem Cost by 8 and Recruit Cost by 2.)
