the card doesn't say that the effect won't happen when another card is played in between -.-*

It says it "Negates the effect of OPPONENTS's last turn(s)" ... why doesn't it work when I play Wind in between?

thanks for listening ;)

That's something that bothered me too. I e-mailed Mojko about it a little while ago, and he said "Master of past and even some other cards must not be played after quick or swift card. It is not a bug, it's a feature."

If it is a feature, I think it should be mentioned on the card somewhere, or at least in the FAQ or something, since as it stands right now it contradicts the text of the card. But I guess once you experience it once, you know better than to do it again.

I saw this occur recently when an opponent used it against me for no effect. I agree, the card's tip needs to reflect that it needs be played "immediately following" the opponent's last card/turn.
Mojko on 10:26, 3. Jul, 2008
Master of past and some other cards that use the information about recent stock, tower and wall changes must not be played after a quick or swift card. Stock, tower and wall of both players are colored according to this information. The reason why this doesn't work after quick or swift cards is simple. The needed information is lost at that time - after you play quick or swift card you can no longer see the changes made upon stock, tower and wall during the opponent's recent turn. Instead they are overwritten by changes made by the quick or swift card played by you. This card will be working properly only after game history module will be implemented, thus the game will remeber all of its turns from the very beggining. Until then we can only add information to the game manual and FAQ (in the last part of this update).

Ah, so if I'm reading this correctly, it will function as written even following a Quick/Swift card once a future update has been implemented? This is welcome news, thank you.

is opponent rolles 4 mages for example master will turn them all back or just the last one?
garbageonly on 16:06, 4. Jul, 2008
to Alex: all, as long as they are all done in a row right before your turn

> Until then we can only add information to the game manual and FAQ (in the last part of this update).
<-- To eliminate possible confusion in future, we'd better change the description to reflect the problem.

"Master of the past:
Negates the effect of THE LAST TURN on your tower, wall, facilities and stock"

All confusions are gone. :D BTW, this effect can lead to some interesting uses. ;)
DPsycho on 01:29, 9. Jul, 2008
That's true. Playing a devastating Swift card but following it with a card that increases your opponent's stock, wall, or facilities could give someone pause. Imagine playing Lord of time and Two towers in one turn and letting the opponent decide whether to lose the fifty wall to restore the twenty-five tower.

This should only reverse the negative consequences (like Anomaly sphere). It is a rare after all...
Lord Ornlu on 20:47, 18. Mar, 2010
this thing occurs also when you play cards "if enemy lowered your stock last turn" after you have played a Quick card. The enemy doesn't lower your stock, you just lose a gem (if you play the New-card flagcard -dt remember its name-) and then get the effect of the next card, which usually gives you higher production, or makes the opponent lose stock as well. It's a bit weird. Maybe it can be implememented that Quick and Swift cards don't give you an extra round, they merely let you play another card, while inducing an algorithm for stock:
Quick: nothing happens to your stock
Swift: Production x1 before the turn finishes
Progressor on 19:03, 19. Mar, 2010
That would be better for this type of cards, since like it is now someone can 'hide' his stock gain for cards like this with a bunch of quickys.

Good news - the recent data related changes allowed me to implement functionality which gives the game an option to request data of any previous turn from matching game replay.

In other words the changes made by opponent during previous round can be now retrieved even when you played a Quick/Swift card this round. This change fixes the following cards:

Foundations, Caravan, Master of the past, Retribution, Judge, Graceful charity, Goblin saboteur, Anomaly sphere and Spring wood

Fixed in r1534. Changes will be applied in the next update.
dindon on 18:21, 6. Apr, 2011
Holy smokes, that's great! We've been waiting for this for years :D
Mojko on 18:26, 6. Apr, 2011
Indeed, however it gives us much more options. Any game data of any turn can be extracted, we could support new card effect which were unsupported thus far. Such as:

- increase damage for every time the card was player from the beginning of the game (or opposite effect)

- add "cooldown" to cards that can span over multiple turns (for examle you can't use a card more often than once per 3 turns)

- and many more...

This is from the implementation point of view. We probably don't want to over do it, so we should discuss and analyze any new effects.
DPsycho on 18:45, 6. Apr, 2011
I love the possibilities this grants. However, I'd have to insist that effects and modifiers be made readily visible somehow, even if it's just a counter that appears while mousing over a keyword. No one should have to use or rely on the History module (or the Hidden-disabled Preview button) to determine a card effect.

As far as application to MotP, HOORAY!
Sundancer on 09:19, 7. Apr, 2011
That is so sweet :D Can't remember how many impossible ideas I had in the past. Thanks a bunch!
