The discussion of a Slow or Wait mechanic gave me the idea of a keyword that does something similar but in a more limited (and ideally, possible) fashion.

Toxic: Next card received will be Sludge

Sludge (Zero cost)(Rarity n/a)
Use: No effect, your turn is spent cleaning the residue left by the Toxic card
(Playing this card is no different than discarding it)

Cards with the Toxic keyword would have a poison motif. (If people don't like the name Toxic, Poison would also do.) They would have slightly lower cost than similarly-tuned cards but have the disadvantage of causing Sludge to accumulate in your hand. Some more powerful Toxic cards would cause Sludge to replace cards in both players' hands similar to Flare Attack effects.

There would likely be Toxic cards that have greater effect when other Toxic cards are in hand and potentially ones that benefit from Sludge being present.

Additionally, at least one card should clear away Sludge on a grand scale

Natural remedy (Nature)(Rarity+Cost to be determined)
Use: Discards all Sludge cards in play

Also, there should be at least one card that attacks Toxic cards directly, probably by forcing their discard and damaging the opponent for having them similar to Cleansing.

Attack cards with the Toxic keyword could include such themes as plagued rats, poisonous jellies, and seeping swampland (Nature+Toxic?).

As an additional idea, if Sludge were one of the cards that Danai present granted, would that make it a better card?

I really love this idea (also because is similar to mine).
I hope that it will be implemented, it's a keyword that brings a lot of strategy.
