If this card is started being used by barbarian and soldier decks then all mage decks will be ruined.
In my oppinion it should at least be a rare and of higher value, unless there's a way u thought this could be played differently

Mage-decks are often building up to 8-9 magic, so they are not so vulnerable to magic reduction as other decks. This card is to be used by mages against soldiers.

Mage decks often need Magic to build up Magic.

exactly if a mage deck has magic 1-2 from the first 10 rounds (easy to play this card in the begining) then it's screwed

Just try magic deck with plague.
