what's up if the opponent as only one undead in hand and is durable (vampire lord, hungry dead...) and I use an holy banish (avenging angel, paladin...) triggering holy bonus?
the undead will be discarded by banish or it will be replaced by purified ashes?
Mojko on 11:21, 9. Dec, 2009
Holy will make it's effect before Banish, but there is no reason behind it @_@. How would you expect it to work?
Fithz Hood on 11:26, 9. Dec, 2009
ok, the way it works it's fine.
also alastor (holy, burning, banish!) could have problems of this kind.
Is there a priority between keywords?
what effect will have a nature dragon? (I already have a nice picture of a nature dragon, but i didn't proposed a concept due to keyword's conflict).
Mojko on 11:36, 9. Dec, 2009
Yes there is a priority. Keywords are executed in this order:

Durable, Quick, Swift, Unliving, Soldier, Mage, Undead, Burning, Holy, Brigand, Barbarian, Beast, Dragon, Banish, Titan, Alliance, Legend, Skirmisher, Destruction, Restoration, Illusion, Nature, Rebirth, Flare attack, Frenzy, Enduring, Charge.

Only the end of the list (Rebirth, Flare attack, Frenzy, Enduring, Charge) is ordered. The rest of the list is arbitrary. Perhaps it shouldn't be.
Fithz Hood on 17:12, 10. Dec, 2009
Keyword priority should follow the order they are written in the card: the first keyword should be the more important . so that an illusion/nature card will give more importance to the illusion keyword (so you will recive an enemy rare and not a rare nature).
Chrone on 18:35, 10. Dec, 2009
Fithz's last post is the idea i was going to write down =)
Mojko on 18:40, 10. Dec, 2009
Nice idea, however the order they are written on the cards is also arbitrary. So in other words, such order doesn't exist yet.
DPsycho on 18:56, 10. Dec, 2009
I think that the clear course of action here would be to change the keyword order on existing cards that don't match the priority list.
Mojko on 18:59, 10. Dec, 2009
I think we should first create a priority list based on some idea. Then, rearrange the keywords on the cards.
Chrone on 19:02, 10. Dec, 2009
Stop anticipationg my thoughts already!
DPsycho on 19:30, 10. Dec, 2009
Great minds think alike.

You were going to suggest that too, right? =D
Mojko on 09:08, 11. Dec, 2009
I propose this order:

First group (category keywords):

Alliance, Barbarian, Beast, Brigand, Burning, Destruction, Dragon, Holy, Illusion, Legend, Mage, Nature, Restoration, Soldier, Titan, Undead, Unliving.

Second group (effect keywords):

Durable, Quick, Swift, Banish, Skirmisher, Rebirth, Flare attack, Frenzy, Enduring, Charge.

For example Burning effect is executed before a Holy effect, so Burning discard one card from opponent's hand and then Holy effect will try to discard a card (if there is a valid target for Holy to discard). On the other hand when there is a conflict with drawing the next card (Durable and Nature for example), the effect which takes place later applies. Durable overrides Nature for example.
Fithz Hood on 13:45, 11. Dec, 2009
In alphabetic order? good idea, easy to remember.
Progressor on 15:52, 11. Dec, 2009
What made Frenzy (& Rebirth?) end up in the second group? There are no cards for wich this matters, bu8t Im curious anyway.
Mojko on 16:16, 11. Dec, 2009
Frenzy & Rebirth are both effect keywords, so they belong to the second group. Additionally, Rebirth must be before the Flare attack and Frenzy before Charge.
Progressor on 16:25, 11. Dec, 2009
What I meant to ask:
What is the difference between a category and an effect keyword?

If I look at what these keywords do, I don't truly understand.
Mojko on 16:27, 11. Dec, 2009
Their origin. Category keywords were crated for grouping some cards together. Effect keywords were created mainly for purpose of adding some effect to a card.
Fithz Hood on 16:28, 11. Dec, 2009
It's a classification born before the "tokens revolution", when keywords like holy, undead... had no effects.
edit: Mojko's explanation is better
Progressor on 16:29, 11. Dec, 2009
The old days...

I do remember them vaguely :-P
Thnx for the answer Moj

An interesting topic, but way too geeky for me to delve into =/

I like Mojkos last post. Priority being set on the card is easier (look at the card instead of memorizing the whole list or having to check manual constantly). This would allow for more combinations as well.
