I've been playing Arcomage in MMVIII again and loving it, remembered this existed. What's happened to this website and what happened to how intuitive and straight forward it was to start a game?

I'm getting a card restricted type error, as if I've built a deck. I thought one of the elements of Arcomage was that your deck per game was random. Idk, if someone could help me out here, that'd be great.

Thank you in advance - and please don't think I'm calling the creators of the site out - not at all. You've kept an extremely niche thing going and I completely respect that! I just need to know how to use it now :)

I might have no idea about the error itself, but there should be a default deck; it's not a deck full of random cards (and I'm not sure it ever has been on this site), but it should work— you do however need to actually choose it (or a deck you've made yourself) in the dropdown list (which should be near the button to challenge someone or offer an open game or start an AI game).

I can hardly remember when this site was even simpler, since it seems simple to me, but that might be because all of us veteran players have been here so long we really have no idea what it's like for a new player or someone unfamiliar with the site or game.

I think there's actually a tutorial now? With level-gating before level 10? But I guess you didn't get to see it since you're technically a really old player rather than a really new one. (There should also be a button to skip the tutorial and jump to level 10, unlocking anything it's currently hiding, if that's actually the problem.)

I'm sorta guessing as to what exactly is happening from your perspective, so more clarification would be good! =D


(Anyway, I'll send you a challenge and you can see if you can accept it, or if it produces and error, or is hidden to begin with.)


P.S.: A game mode that really does play like the classic version of the game would be a nice feature, as well as making it easy to just jump into playing without having to build a deck or think about it. Something else to add to the list for if ultramage or Mojko get back to coding here, or if someone else starts donating code hours to the SVN repository.
