In my game against ya-gray, in the 70 th turn i have discarded Gate guardian and received new Gate guardian in its place.
I tried to discard two more times Gate guardian and i continued to receive it as a new card.

The card is cursed. I think the keyword was introduced when you were not here.
One can not discard cursed cards.
On the plus side - the enemy can not discard them either...
