I would like to have an option to play a game against myself (choosing the 2 decks)

That would not count to any statistic (would use a game slot).

What do you think?
marsrover21 on 00:00, 19. May, 2009
I like it. Usually I have to go looking for some newbie scrub if I want to try a new deck :0

Great Idea :) even though it would decrease the number of games running versus other players and though work against the idea of this game.

Isn't there an offline single-player for practicing?
Mojko on 15:45, 19. May, 2009
You can get the normal Arcomage here http://www.x-factor.tym.sk/Arcomage/Arcomage.rar.

Also it is possible to install a wampserver on your PC and install and play MArcomage on it against yourself (using two browsers). But this is rather complicated for normal users.

I don't think it is a good idea to implement self dueling, because this is a on-line card card game, so we're here to play against other players. I think a better idea is this : https://netvor.sk/trac/arcomage/ticket/31 (idea proposed by Cassiraa)

For those who don't want to redirect their browser, the suggestion was to have an option to play a non-scored game against another player for the purposes of deck-testing.
Chrone on 19:39, 20. May, 2009
lol, register two accounts and play with yourself =)
Progressor on 20:05, 20. May, 2009
Then they'll count for statistics.
The idea is a solution to play against yourself WITHOUT making the stats meaningless.
Chrone on 08:51, 23. May, 2009
Forget stats, enjoy gameplay...
DPsycho on 17:50, 23. May, 2009
Xpoh, I can't tell now if you're arguing in favor of or against ticket 31.
Progressor on 14:38, 25. May, 2009
Note this suggestion is slightly different from ticket 31. With this sugestion you don't need other players time to test your decks.

From how I read it, the suggestion doesn't charm Xpoh.
This feature will still improve other players game play though ;-)
FilipeSilva on 00:17, 26. May, 2009
I think that some players use the technique Xpoh explained to test the decks themselves.
I think that option is only used to test a deck and really not to really to influence the stats (but that is a bias from that).
The offline program is not marcomage...its a version of arcomage.

My idea was to avoid that kind of behavior and allow people to play against themselves even when they cannot play against another player

"The offline program is not marcomage...its a version of arcomage."

Well yeah, I said "You can get the normal Arcomage here". So by normal Acromage I meant normal Acromage :D

To allow playing against yourself looks really awkward to me. If we really want to make "single player" in MArcomage, I would be in favour of developing some AI. It doesn't need to be very smart and also could be set to some behaviour (aggressive, defensive...). It would be probably used mostly for deck testing anyway. You could even provide a deck for the AI or it would just play with some pre-defined deck.

@mojiko

That sounds pretty reasonable.

I agree
