Hi,

I just had a game with my undead deck against a holy one. In the manual it says that every holy card played gives 12 points in holy. But my opponent received 80 something everytime, meaning he discard one of my undead cards with every second holy card he played. Bug I guess?

Also I played soldier cards but didn´t receive any points.

If your opponent had 8 Holy cards in his hand, he would receive 12 points for each of the 7 cards still on hand once it was played, granting 84 points.

If you played a Soldier card and it was the only one on hand, you received 0 points for the 0 Soldier cards on hand once that one was played.

Looking at the game manual, I see that this is not described properly. The example given claims that playing an Alliance card will give Alliance Tokens, and this is not always the case. The dependency on other cards of the same keyword is not mentioned at all. The manual needs revision.

This is taken straight from Game manual:

Soldier

"gain 8 Soldier tokens for each Soldier card in hand (not counting the played one), side-effect: half of the recruits cost of the played card will be returned."

Holy

"gain 12 Holy tokens for each Holy card in hand (not counting the played one), side-effect: one random Undead card from enemy hand will be replaced by Purified ashes card and you will get additional stock based on discarded card rarity (Common - 1 stock, Uncommon - 2 stock, Rare - 3 stock)"

So it's clearly written that the played card does not count. However, if you think game manual is really hard to understand, please report where and what would you like to change and how.

You see, writinng a good game manual is really hard for those who understand the system inside-out >_<

Okay, didn´t read careful enough, it seems. Another problem:

my opponent just played a holy card and discarded BOTH eternal guardians in my hand. Although only one was replaced by holy ashes.

maybe the holy card he used was paladin that is also banish

As it currently appears in the game manual:

"Tokens

Some keywords have a side-effect, that requires a token counter. Player can choose up to three token counters for each deck in the deck section. It is possible to assign the token counters automatically by selecting the "Auto" button. Playing a card with keyword, which is associated with the token counter, will raise the value of the token counter. When a token counter reaches 100 a side-effect will happen and the token counter will be reseted to 0. This side-effect takes place directly after the card effect of the played card.

Let's take the Alliance keyword for example. First you need to set one token counter to Alliance keyword (in the deck section). Then you normally start a game with this deck. When you play a card that has Alliance keyword, it will raise the Alliance token counter. When the counter reaches 100, it will add a Production X2 to the effect of the played card and will be reseted to 0. By paying close attention to the token counters, you will be able to make good combos of card effects and keyword side-effects. For example Soldier and Ceremonial guard or Alliance and Stilshrine of Miriam can make good stock boosting combos."

Nowhere in the entire Tokens section is it mentioned that the rate of accrual is based on the number left over in-hand. On the contrary, it claims that simply playing a card with a keyword is enough to increment the associated value as long as it was selected. According to the text above, playing an Alliance card will always add Alliance tokens. This is misleading and, in the event that the played Alliance card is the only one on hand, false.

How much tokens you get for a specific keyword when played is explained in the Keyword description (just above the tokens explanation), since this depends on keyword.
DPsycho on 22:41, 23. Apr, 2009
I agree that the text in the Keywords section is fine. However, the text in the Token section currently reads that playing an Alliance card -will- grant Alliance tokens, and that is not always true. I suspect that this is what caused the confusion.

Since there are no exceptions to this (tokens gained not counting the played card), it would make sense to clarify this in the Token section. This could be done by adding to the end of: "When you play a card that has Alliance keyword, it will raise the Alliance token counter for each additional Alliance card in hand (if there is at least one other). The played card does not count toward the total." Later in the paragraph, it might be worth stating: "The number of tokens received varies with each keyword. See the Keyword section above."

Agreed, I will add this to game manual.

Done.
