Seems like an easy way to accumulate Undead tokens cheaply so you can time an expensive Undead with the token effect. Also, you have the benefit of adding another Undead to your hand for keyword count. I'd use it, even if the damage is paltry.

I wonder if this needs a cap. It would take nine turns (including not being able to generate a New one on the second due to both being New) to get to 10 damage at only 0/2/2 cost. Quite a bit of time, but once there, you need a full hand replacement to stop the tide. Even against a Holy deck, you'd be getting rid of the Purified ashes with ease.

But Holy has a ton of banishes and Cleansing that will be a clusterkill against this one. And don't forget - Holy/Soldier has very high attack, and you need to keep 7-8 common Durable non-defensive cards in hand to use it effectively. Zombie apocalypse is fun, but it's too slow and unsafe.
On the other hand, it's meant to be slow and unsafe...

I meant to reference Cleansing as well, actually, in my assessment that Holy alone won;t stop it. Cleansing caps at 4, so you're still in the game. The only way to "stop" it is a full hand replacement.

While the lack of defense is a factor, that's true for Undead decks in general.

Please note, I like this card. When I question whether it needs a cap, what I mean is that we should implement it, see how well it works, and see that way just how potent it is. =D

I don't think a repeatable 10 damage for 2/2 is overpowered in this case, since it comes at the cost of lots of set up time/resources, and the cost of ruining your hand and getting no new draws.

I mean, it already feels like it takes forever to kill someone with Troll, and it does 14 damage a turn.

What Zombie has over Troll is letting you inexpensively set up perfect conditions for higher rarity Undead already in hand. Beyond that, the Attack value could just be gravy. But then I'd figure it gets to the point where you're also replacing other Uncommon Undead because this one's damage/cost ratio outshines them. That you're also getting a net gain for all resources with standard production as well as accumulating tokens is also a definite plus, even if said token effect is near-useless for this card itself.

I suppose another built in balance for this is that it doesn't go very well with Eternal Guardian.

That's true, but undead decks have always relied on massive numbers, so chances are good that you'll have cheap common undeads that you can use to build your tokens (while getting the benefit of a new draw). I've always thought the undead keyword effect was fairly lame anyways. It's good with your expensive cards, but those expensive cards are often going to be your finishers.

As much as I try to downplay its power though, I would certainly take Zombie in any undead deck I made. I think that perhaps its greatest power would be in replacing non-undead cards. Once you have enough resources/defense, you really want to be able to get rid of your non-undead +gems, +wall, +tower cards, so you can maximize keyword gain and, even more so, the benefit of cards like Undead host, Banshee, and Corpses Behemoth(sic).

Also, it has a cute picture.

I would change it to something like this:

Undead.

Attack: 4
Replace selected card with Zombie

Edit: Maybe change to "if not targeting self Replace selected card with Zombie"
