Why would someone use this (other than to trigger the keyword)?

On the one hand, i wanted a combination with purifying fire, on the other hand it can be quite usefull in situation when you are about to the be countered, because then you have a hand of commons which can help you to change your strategy. (eg. when you have a tower building deck and you are swimming in recruits)
About this, there are some summoning cards among the common ones which can pop up when you are lucky.

At last, there were some concepts which relied on cards which are not from your deck, so i thought this card can be usefull.

Anyway, i believe we just need more cards to support this cards effect (like these "If this card is not in your deck...." which were suggested in one thread). And the players will find a way to use it.
Any idea how to improve this card to make it more useable?

Well, I think generally drawing a card not from your deck is considered a negative effect rather than a positive one (this is why the early nerf to Wind worked as well as it did). I would say keep the effect the same, but give a reward that scales. Maybe +1 stock for every card replaced.

Edit: Ok, that with the stock sounds good, i will change this.

This could be useful with Rainbow Dragon or if either player draws Alucard. Not that you should ever put a Common in your deck just for synergy with a Rare, of course.

Up to 7 stock from a cheap common? Sounds a little too much, but I guess it would have to be tested first..

Wheat farm can give even more stock, so it's not unheard of.

Changed the card to make it summon non-rares and halved the stock gain, removed the illusion keyword either

This would make the card at least usefull because it can now summon uncommons

I like this card and would add it for sure in several decks.

Imo better then messenger, because of replacing several (probably useless) cards.

Also better then wish IMO, as it doesn't discard uncommons/rares and has a higher chance of getting more uncommons at lower price... however not your own uncommons ;-)

So the complicated, textfilling "+1 stock for 2 discarded cards" is imo not needed... maybe instead cost 1 or 2g.

The synergy with ambassador is obvious and will be forced, so the stock+ might come anyway (as you can select ambassador to be the card not discarded).

I would definitely use it with ambassador, or with Purifying fire
