is this intended? Seems strange that "shuffling" would show your opponent your hand...
DPsycho on 04:17, 20. Aug, 2011
In short, yes. Shuffling cards were implemented after Hidden mode was implemented, and it was known that doing so would generate a discard list.

I'd say we're rather used to it. It's a built-in drawback, though it can also work to your own advantage by deterring your opponent from taking certain actions.

Having this -not- happen would require something of a major change to the current system. It might be possible to render discarded Hidden cards as Hidden, but I can't guess at how difficult this would be, and I feel that in most cases (such as discarding a hidden card from the opponent's hand) it does make sense to show what the affected card was.

Hiding the discard list in hidden mode would actually be easy, I think. I do agree with you that it's just become part of the game though. I've never really thought of it as a problem or a bug. I'd be happy with it either way.

I don't think "It's been that way and we're used to it oh well" is much of a supporting argument.

If people prefer it this way, it doesn't need an argument. What reason is there to change it? In most scenarios where the hand is being shuffled, the opponent's likely to have seen most of them already.

Yes, there is a case where shuffling your hand would reveal information that your opponent didn't otherwise know, but the question then becomes whether the benefit of shuffling outweighs the drawback of showing your hand. Like any other card you take into your deck, you might just have to accept that it's not going to prove useful in every game.

If this is only being requested to benefit the use of Whirlwind, then we're discussing changing game mechanics for the sake of a single card's balance issues. I don't want to see a situation where mass discard effects like Flare attack hide the results from the opponent because something else was changed.

If it is possible to change this ONLY for Whirlwind, then I have no objection, though I stand by my opinion that Whirlwind is balanced well at present and would need to be nerfed were this to change. (And personally, I like the drawback. It's more interesting.)
