Who are the toughest MArcomagists ?
Here is the winning rate of the 30 top listed of us. It's liable to calculation mistakes, so you're encouraged to verify it with the formula, and to calculate and add yours to the list if it doesn't figure there already (sorry, I didn't have time to calculate everyone's rate):
(100/(wins+losses)) x wins = winning rate

I think that those stats don't tell the whole story. Some players make new profile once they create good deck so they can have real good win/loss ratio.
We should play some nice tournament ;)
garbageonly on 17:30, 5. Mar, 2009
The number is cool yet don't represent much. Some players play to win, some play for fun, obviously those who play for fun by trying out things will lose more than those just repetitively use couple decks to accumulate wins.
Xenogeist on 19:02, 5. Mar, 2009
Garbageonly has a good point, I don't pay much attention to a players win/loss stats. I know I for one have a deck that wins most of the time but I rarely use it because if feels kind of cheap. My favorite deck to play and the one I get the most fun out of is my summoning deck which doesn't win me many games.
JimmyMethod on 19:22, 5. Mar, 2009
Haha. I'm a wannabe.

One thing that should also be recognized is that it doesn't take into account Strength of Schedule. I'm probably responsible for 100 of garbageonly's wins, and he's responsible for 100 of my losses (which, at one point put me down with around a 33% win percentage). As of late, I've refrained from challenging him, and I've shot up to almost .500

I'm waiting for the new ranking system to come.
garbageonly on 19:43, 5. Mar, 2009
Sorry Jimmy I didn't meant it =(

By the way, a win against a new comer is much easier than against a seasoned player, but both of them get you a win, so once again, win/lose number don't reflect a player's strength accurately.
KingPirux on 21:57, 5. Mar, 2009
wow cool :D i agree to this table, at least for my experience playing against some of them... i want to be at least ****GOOD BOY XD

edit: i'm a wanabe! 43% :D... what is a wanabe?
merchito on 22:48, 5. Mar, 2009
Mmmh... I think you can translate "wannabe" to "aspirante" in spanish. Anyway. That's a contraction of "want to be", someone who wants to reach a higher level in something. (Thanks KingPirux :) Added your rate to the list)
KingPirux on 22:59, 5. Mar, 2009
lol! thanks to you!! :D jeje
Sundancer on 15:37, 6. Mar, 2009
I'm not even listed Oo ?!...

seems I'm not even a wannabe ... I'm just not worth to mention :p
merchito on 16:19, 6. Mar, 2009
Nonono, Sundancer. I just calculated ratings for the 30 first top names from the players list, in most won games order. It takes quite some time, so I can't calculate for everyone. Didn't you read what I wrote? Anyway, rejoice, I've calculated your winning rate and it's... 72% (for 385 games played in total)
Perfection on 23:19, 6. Mar, 2009
mines 64% :P

and yea obviously when i challenge garbage i expect a tough match, when i challenge some weaker player with 33% win ratio i expect much easier match....
so by just playing weak players i could have much better win rate
wolfheart on 10:09, 7. Mar, 2009
i am sure i can beat anyone over 60% rate..
merchito on 15:16, 7. Mar, 2009
Thanks Perfection. Added to the list.
Chrone on 11:10, 8. Mar, 2009
People, do you really need rating system?
I understand your desire to have a proof of your super-skills, but it will ruin the game.

With rating system most of players will concentate just on making bigger rating... which is much less joyful kind of play. Besides, it is bad for deck experiments. For example, i make new deck almost every day, hence my win/loss ratio. With rating system, it is much more likely to see players use just the single most powerful deck - it will be terribly boring. Also you will see a lot of second/third accounts and other pointless things introduced in game - because people don't like to see themselves at the end of list. It makes them say "haha i pwned your ass noob" instead of "tnx for good game".
wolfheart on 12:42, 8. Mar, 2009
yep xpoh is right about that one
merchito on 13:16, 8. Mar, 2009
I, for one, don't give a flying fux about my own winning rate. I made this calculation, actually, when I read on another thread claims from some who "feared" playing against garbageonly. I just wanted to know if he was really the player who won the most often games. Since I made those calculations, I thought it would be cool to share them with you all. But, like most of us, I am one who cares far more about fun and experimenting than about winning. Though the thrill of the last strike on enemy's tower adds a definite tinge of pleasure to the color of a game.
DPsycho on 15:50, 8. Mar, 2009
DPsycho is a "Killer?" How appropriate...
Progressor on 15:55, 8. Mar, 2009
Can't judge any player on the bad attitude of a few. If you happen to play with the type that gets aroused of pwning n00bs, I don't expect much courtesy from them, regardless of a rating system.

As for the experimental part, I won't let a bunch of statistics take the bulk of the fun away. Plus: experimental doesn't mean it'll loose. There are such things as succeeded experiments ;-).
Chrone on 16:51, 8. Mar, 2009
I don't think so. It is not so simple.

I i'm pretty sure you never played World of Warcraft. Every time people get some numbers to measure between them they begin to fight for numbers. Exceptions exist, but become more rare every day until there only lone freaks (like me) left. This effect stops me from extending subscription. Many of them play to pwn n00bs, but contingent here is friendly. Don't flatter yourselves, it's not because you are better people.

As to experiments, before new deck proves it's effectiveness, you lose a number of combats. When it does, it stops being experimental - because experiment ended positively. Thus, experimental decks always mean worse win/loss ratio.

And 2 merchito - it did not mean i disapprove you. I found this thread interesting, thanks. I just wanted to prevent development of ratio system before it becomes an eyesore and spoils gameplay.
