"This card can't be discarded"

Years back, this feature was declared impossible to implement. Is this still the case?

Yes, it still is.

Should it be "You're a stinking butthead if you discard this, you're not supposed to!"?

I suppose, you can at least "check" if it was discarded (at least farm checks, if last card was discarded). If you can implement an "if discarded"-function, a solution is obvious.
