So we have a rare Nature/Dragon, a rare Nature/Undead, but don't have a rare Nature/Beast? I don't like it. Really.
It's an old concept but I still like it. I removed Far sight keyword because rare Far sight/Nature is too good combination.
andi on 19:40, 14. Jan, 2011
I don't think we should use copyrighted names in this game (we already use copyrighted pictures, that's enough :> )
Mojko on 19:43, 14. Jan, 2011
It's a copyrighted name? Where from?
NG_Beholder on 19:44, 14. Jan, 2011
Hm, we already have Arthoria the Saber, Byakko, Seiryu and Genbu, so why not?
dimitris on 21:06, 14. Jan, 2011
What does Guenwyvar has to do with nature? It's a magical creature.
andi on 21:10, 14. Jan, 2011
Guenhwyvar is the black panther of Drizzt Do'Urden... most well known character in Forgotten Realms world. Wizards of the Coast surely have a copyright on that (they would be dumb if not).
And the other names you mention are not copyrighted. The last ones are ancient Chinese gods, while Arthoria seems to come from the ingame novels here (which I have never read though)
dimitris on 21:14, 14. Jan, 2011
I don't think that WotC would care to hunt down a small community for using a widely known name. After all it's a free game without aiming on commercial profit.

Besides, I think it's spelled wrong as it is now. :)
andi on 21:19, 14. Jan, 2011
Fan projects of King's Quest, C&C, Halo Wars etc. have been hunt down and shut down which didn't aim for commercial profit as well. I wouldn't rely on being a small community would protect it from greedy lawyers.
dimitris on 21:32, 14. Jan, 2011
I guess these communities were closed because they illegaly used trademark names?
Guenwyvar is not a trademark, is it? It's a character from a series of books.
In the same sense we shouldn't use Alucard. It's a manga character right?
Fithz Hood on 21:38, 14. Jan, 2011
alucard is form castlevania games (son of dracula). copyright Nintendo or Konami
arthoria is king arthur from the anime "Fate stay night"
benbu seiryu and byakko (and I hpoe a future suzaku)are gods like thor and seth (I suppose they are ok to be used).
It's not a bad idea to change alucard and arthoria
dindon on 00:24, 15. Jan, 2011
Alucard predates Castlevania by quite a bit, going back at least as far as the 1940's.

Anyways, just using the name of a character or creature from a copyrighted work for one of our cards would almost certainly fall under fair use. If, for example, we copied the text and image of a M:tG card, then yeah, that would be legally problematic.
DPsycho on 00:46, 15. Jan, 2011
Alucard ("Dracula" backwards) is from several sources of vampire fiction and Konami doesn't own the name. The image we use for him, maybe, but not the name or concept.

Genbu, Seiryu, Byakko and Suzaku are from Chinese creation myth and are certainly available to us. (Suzaku, the phoenix, technically already exists as a Rare in MArcomage, just not by that name.)

As long as we're naming things from anime and the like, Alastor as we use it is from Shakugan no Shana and Order of the White Lotus from Avatar the Last Airbender. As these are not starring/title characters/entities, I've always considered them homage rather than infringement. That doesn't mean that copyright holders would agree, however.
NG_Beholder on 10:23, 15. Jan, 2011
Okay. I'll change the name before that copyright discussion went too far and too offtopic.
Maybe someone wants to say something about concept?
Mojko on 10:42, 15. Jan, 2011
Yes. It has a nice picture (thanks Fithz ;-)), but the card effect text is too long.
Lord Ornlu on 11:00, 15. Jan, 2011
It's a nice rare attack card.

As for text shortening, you could replace the first sentence with "If N>5"
Fithz Hood on 11:22, 15. Jan, 2011
Since nature and beast rares are both easy to summon I think this card should be nerfed a bit or the cost raised.
Lord Ornlu on 11:39, 15. Jan, 2011
Well, to be fair, it gives at best double attack:recruits ratio which is fine for a rare.

Maybe raise the cost to 25-30?
dindon on 12:09, 15. Jan, 2011
By my count, the highest attack it can attain is 88 (24 + 16*4), which is quite a bit more than double the recruit cost.

If the text needs to be reduced, I'd say get rid of the conditional altogether. I don't think it's that interesting to give a bonus if you have more than a certain number of beast+nature cards - you're already getting a bonus the more of those cards you have...
Lord Ornlu on 12:15, 15. Jan, 2011
oh yeah, u r right :P my mistake. I miscalculated 16+4*8= 48
NG_Beholder on 12:39, 15. Jan, 2011
I raised its cost, reduced damage a little bit and added tower+ effect. So it's a rare Forest spirit now.
