maybe add some requirement that you need to have some (1-3?) burning cards on hand other than searing fire as well or it can be heavily abused with wildfire gem in just any deck (assuming this is mainly for burning decks?)
other than that awesome card

I really like it!

I don't think I'd use it in my Burning deck, to be honest. You have half a chance of discarding it if you intend to play Wildfire gem first. Having Searing fire sitting in your hand with the Burning keyword is more useful than having this and waiting for the right moment to use it, and there are so many good choices for such a deck in the Uncommon pool.

Of course, that I wouldn't use it doesn't mean that others wouldn't. I'm just giving my personal assessment.

Maybe burning keyword could be added?
DPsycho on 00:51, 27. Nov, 2010
That would alleviate both of my concerns with it, making it worthwhile to keep on hand even if you don't use it.

Still, I'm not sure I'd use it just to replace Burning with Burning. Perhaps if it guaranteed an Uncommon for one of them, or perhaps a non-common Burning for the next card drawn.

I agree with DPsycho here. Usually the reason for playing Wildfire Gem is to enhance the attack of Phoenix, or to make sure you have enough Burning cards for Rebirth effect to take place on Fire Elemental. Replacing Purified Fire would not be much of use (except that the mass discard could give you better cards, but that's no guarantee)

My intent is to convert all Searing fire cards in hand into other, more useful, Burning cards. By placing no restrictions on the rarity of the new Burning card, it could conceivably draw a rare, or none. That randomness is what balances it. But adding the Burning keyword is a good idea...

I see where u are coming from. My point is, that if you play Wildfire Gem then you already have a card good enough to end the game in a couple of turns.

That's not always the case in every deck. This card would just give you more options and make Flare attack more useful.
