Anyone else been having this problem? Twice in the last 24 hours, I've posted something and had it appear twice. I didn't do anything unusual, I didn't click twice, there's nothing wrong with my internet connection, and it hasn't been happening on any other sites, so I'm wondering if it's something to do with the Marcomage forums. I'm using Firefox 3.6.12 on Ubuntu.

It usually happens due to double click, but this issue is also present on much better paid forums such as StarCraft 2 forum. It's probably impossible to completely eliminate. I could add a small cooldown for a post, though (this would disallwo the user to make multiple posts in a row).

Maybe just allow the user to delete his own posts?

How about disabling the button after first click?

Something small as a 5 or 10 second period after making a post should be enough to eliminate double posts in a way that most users will never notice it, I figure.

Maybe this is the best solution. And it would have the added benefit of allowing people to delete their post if they say something rash and decide to retract it :P

I decided to implement the cooldown (5 seconds), because it also prevents bots from spamming posts like crazy. Implemented in r1230. Changes will be applied in the Christmas update.
