Isn't this card underpowered? Why not make it "Tower + 3 * #Magic"

It's pretty popular. In a mage deck, it's not unheard of to have 6,7,8+ magic.

Never thought of it as underpowered. With normal magic (3) you get +6 Tower for 2 bricks. There's no other common that does this (maybe Working together).

Actually I think that it should have a max value.

I use it quite often with the basic 3 Magic. It's well balanced at that with an exploitable weakness that it becomes less desirable if your opponent reduces your Magic. I like it for that.

Even if it's used with a considerably high value for Magic, it's on par with the best amount of +tower given by other conditional common cards. No complaints here.

I don't use it often when I have basic magic (3) as I am usually trying to save gems. However it's a very good card, especially when you raise your magic a bit. I don't find it underpowered at all.

8-9 Magic is usual number when you play Mage/Legend deck. So do we want 20+ tower from a common?

Perhaps we can make it usable by other decks as well. We can implement jbryant's proposal as follows:

"Tower +#Magic
If no Mage tokens set then
Tower +2#Magic"

It's already perfectly usable by other decks. At base values, you're getting 6 tower for 2 bricks and 3 gems, a great price if gems aren't part of your strategy. In fact, your proposal doesn't change the result at all for non-Mage decks.

Edit: Ah, I see now that it would, I was reading it as if/else rather than cumulative. It would give 3+6.
