I see this card very rarely. I like it, but can't quite justify it in my decks. Have we considered merging it with master of the Past either to cause both effects or to have modes?
DPsycho on 01:29, 15. Nov, 2010
I use it, and to great effect at that. I don't think it needs to be changed at all. I think people may just not realize how useful it can be.

I agree with DPsycho, it's cheap and effective card.

It's also true that it's extremely rarely used. I honestly can't remember the last time I've even seen it drawn or played.

And it is in the bottom 10 in the statistic section, along with other horrible rares like Mana burn, Storm of Bricks, and Overlord. Oh wait... carry on then.

Maybe there's an argument to be made that people just don't know what's good for them. Taking a casual look at the rare statistics section, I was shocked to find Redesign (which I consider one of my must-take rares, and which I think veers on the edge of overpowered) in position number 111 directly beneath the utterly awful Seth, which is itself beneath the exceedingly mediocre Avenging Angel.

Problem is that Anomaly Sphere is very situational. Right now it has sense against Laputa/Dwarven fortress, especially in long mode, Gateway and maybe good use of Ice Queen in normal mode. That's it.

I do: yesterday I had gateway and chemo had the sphere. it was a nice match.
the card is sure good, but I rarely take it in my decks: I rather use order of white lotus. also I want to use rare cards that are surely useful, that don't depend on what my opponent does.
I suppose this is the reason why it's not used. cards like veteran militia and dream shift are a must if you want to put this card in a deck.
buff it? let's give it a random keyword, maybe destruction or illusion.
DPsycho on 15:05, 15. Nov, 2010
I would never describe it as "very situational." It's one of the least expensive ways to reduce a facility, and it destroys cards that refund the resources used to play them like Sea lord, Dark forest, Ceremonial guard, Meditation and Alastor, and of course cards that strictly give resources at some cost like Sacrifice, Clay valley and Ancient sage. It's also the most effective counter to the oft-maligned OotWL since your opponent would have to sacrifice any gains he receives while, more than likely, still giving you some benefit. Simply having it in hand is an excellent deterrent, or it can be deployed unexpectedly to throw an opponent's plan completely out the window.
dimitris on 15:18, 15. Nov, 2010
It's definitely not "very situational". It just needs the right timing to come to its full potential.

I think it's good as it is.
In general, I'm not of the opinion that "every card should fit in every deck", especially rare ones.
DPsycho on 15:23, 15. Nov, 2010
I forgot to mention that it also counters the effect of keyword gains, so playing it after the right Unliving, Alliance, Far sight, Soldier, Undead, Aqua, etc. can be especially advantageous.
NG_Beholder on 15:28, 15. Nov, 2010
Okay. It is a counter to some defensive/resource+/facilities+ rares and uncommons, yes, but it is also a rare itself and (what's most important) there is no way to summon it except Scepter of Summoning - with chance equal to 1/15 and Scepter of Evolution - with same chance. On the other hand, Master of the Past can be summoned with Stonehenge or Mage Guild.
And what if you have it in your deck and you got it in a game against Beast/Frenzy or Undead deck? It would be near useless in this case.
DPsycho on 15:31, 15. Nov, 2010
Beast/Frenzy and Undead decks have several cards that give boosts to facilities and resources.
