The icon that indicates forum activity on the top navbar isn't going away. I've read all new messages and logged out and in again more than once, but the animated icon of a book is still there.

I'm guessing that this is tied to the fact that some posts are receiving a time stamp several hours in the future from my current time.
DPsycho on 21:20, 12. Dec, 2008
Local time is 9:20pm, or 21:20.

Edit: Time is recorded on the site as 21:20.

Strange, works fine for the timezone I'm currently in. What's your setting?
Also, try making a post and note down both your local time and the value that gets displayed on the page.
DPsycho on 09:06, 14. Dec, 2008
My suspicion seems to be correct. At this moment, no one else's post is indicated as having been made at a future time, and now for the first time in days, the icon has disappeared.

My settings put me at GMT -6 (Central Time). When I post, it stamps it with the correct time for where I am. Posts by others are appearing to be made in the future relative to mine. As I read threads and then log out and in, they are correctly changing from red to green, but the icon remains if any thread contains a time stamp that my current time has not yet reached.

I hope that this is enough information.

Issue resolved. It was caused by a missed database upgrade. This happened at the time where I needed to do a fast update to remove the duplicate card issue, and COINCIDENTALLY all services (phpmyadmin, svn server, ...) were down at that moment.

A consequence of this is that times recorded between then and now will not display correctly - but I don't feel like going back and readjusting them. If anyone really needs something like that done, let me know.

Thank you! After the times have a chance to catch up to normal, I'll let you know if there are any further discrepancies.

Just want to mention that the highlighting still doesn't work correctly. Since it's not a critical problem we'll incorporate the fix into the overall page restructuring branch instead of the production branch directly. Hope you'll understand.

Associated bugreport: https://netvor.sk/trac/arcomage/ticket/98 .

Hard to judge if I've read ALL the posts, since the highlighting doesn't work properly (everything still seems to be 'new', read or unread... but the forum activity icon is omnipresent regardless, and I've read all the apparently 'new' threads to test and see if that'd stop it. I'd imagine the two problems are linked.

Did you log out and in again?
Endovior on 18:53, 3. Jan, 2009
No, different browser sessions. Hell, different browsers, even.

Strangely, though, that actually fixed the problem, now making me feel silly.

EDIT: Of course, then I post again, and the activity icon returns. In response to my own post. And reading said post does not make said icon go away. Go figure.

Such a silly boy XD
About the different browser sessions: If you don't log out before you quit the session the site doesn't do it for you, as I've noticed. Comes in handy when you don't want to retype your login over and over again. (Don't know bout the different browser part).

For optimal use as mentioned we need to log of after reading / posting. As I wil after clicking create post, just to login a second after that. :-)

We already have a ticket for this -> https://netvor.sk/trac/arcomage/ticket/93 .

It's a rather conceptual problem to know whether you are "logging in again", or just continuing after leaving the browser open for a few hours.

Btw, we don't implement the usual forum feature to remember each and every topic viewing individually. That would make the db size explode, and we kinda want to avoid that ;p
