"r1201 Changed play/discard button mechanism. "Local" play/discard buttons for each card replaced with one global play/discard button that requires to select specific card before executing card action."

I don't like this. There should be an option to choose the old style.

July on 19:07, 24. Oct, 2010
now you can't see what card you can go!!!! it's NO GOOD!
Fithz Hood on 19:08, 24. Oct, 2010
I agree, we need a way to quickly see wich cards are playable and wich are not.
and play and discard buttons should be larger or of another color

RRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know the reason for changing the current system, but if you intend to do it the way you did recently, maybe the cards which are not playable should be dimmed out.
Like your setting just before, when choosing a card.

But I still prefer the old system

After a quick discussion with Mojko, we decided to re-think the implementation to bring back the indication of playable cards. I rolled back today's changes to avoid inconveniencing you players with a confusing user interface while we work on the issue.

Thanks again for your feedback (and July, you can calm down now =D)

The old system suffers from an overload of buttons and it's not possible to extend it with more options (for example, card action preview) without making a huge mess. Plus, getting rid of the buttons above and below gives us back a nice chunk of vertical screen space, which is definitely a bonus. We just need to figure out how to do this in a suitable way.

Dimming cards that cannot be played is one possible method, but it has a significant drawback - the text on the card will be much less readable. Even though you could clearly see what you're playing _now_, I assume most players will also want to look at the other cards to prepare a strategy for the following turns.

It makes sense for when there are more than two choices per card as was being discussed in another thread. Right now, though, the old way still works best.

Until now, I hadn't considered that the ability to distinguish playable cards from the rest would be eliminated. Whoops.
Fithz Hood on 19:26, 24. Oct, 2010
Maybe give to not playable card a black border
Mojko on 19:30, 24. Oct, 2010
All right guys, I will work on it tomorrow and then post some previews. We'll discuss them and pick the best option. However, the global "play/discard" button system in necessary, so this is not the question "if", but "how to display unplayable cards and how to display selected card".
moullas on 19:58, 24. Oct, 2010
isn't there a way to make a radio button unclickable(gray)?
Mojko on 20:13, 24. Oct, 2010
The radio buttons are displayed only if you have JavaScript disabled (or if you didn't pushed F5 once after update). Under normal circumstances the card will be selected by clicking on it.
Mojko on 10:23, 25. Oct, 2010
Here is the preview of the new version:

This is a game between me and my imaginary friend add. As you can see on the image, unplayable cards are now only partially visible. This makes them easy to recognize, but could cause them to be difficult to read. That's why when you hover over such card with mouse cursor, the card will change to full visibility.

Card action buttons are all initially partially visible. When you select an unplayable card, only the discard button will become fully visible. In case of a playable card, all buttons will become fully visible.

Card which is selected has a different border style.

New feature is the ability to see which cards is opponent able to play. Unplayable cards in opponent's hand are visualized the same way as unplayable cards in your hand. This feature is disabled in hidden cards mode.
dimitris on 10:31, 25. Oct, 2010
It looks good to me. From these preview images I can't undetstand the difference in the border of the selected card.
Mojko on 10:34, 25. Oct, 2010
Selected card border is inset, which invokes the feeling that the card is pushed. For example on this image, Spectral dragon is the selected card.

Here is an alternative to how the selected card can be visualized. In this case the selected card has a double black border.
