What was the reasoning behind this modification, by the way?

Well, the main reason is the actual representation of this card. Why should heavy infantry have the ability to bypass opponent's defenses? These guys wear heavy armor, swords and no range weapons. But of course, we'll see in the statistics how will this change effect this card.
